Truecrypt Bootloader + Linux

Ich möchte gerne meine komplette Windows Vista Partition mittels Truecrypt verschlüsseln. Auf der Festplatte befindet sich aber auch noch ein Linux-System (kubuntu 6.10).
Nach einigem rumprobieren sollte GRUB nun auf einer extra Boot Partition liegen, die auch als aktiv markiert ist. Von dieser startet GRUB auch problemlos.
Installiere ich allerdings den Truecrypt Bootloader, dann findet er nach Druck auf ESC GRUB nicht mehr. Die verschlüsselte Windows-Partition bootet er aber anstandslos.

Hat Jemand ne Idee?

Der beste Platz Windows zu installieren scheint eine Primäre Partition zu sein. Einen Linux MBR kann man auf einer Partition hinter der Windows Partition schreiben, dieser wird dann wahrscheinlich durch drücken von ESC beim TrueCrypt Bootauth gestartet. (In dem Fall weniger MBR jedoch mehr volume boot record genannt.)

Was leider nicht geht ist es erst Grub zu booten und dann den TrueCrypt bootloader zu chain loaden.

Ich habe mein Problem auch gelöst. Der alternative Bootloader muss tatsächlich in eine zweite Partition installiert werden.
Beispiel grub (in der Console):

root# grub
grub> root (hd0,2)
grub> setup (hd0,2) // statt direkt in (hd0)

Ich habe mich kürzlich mit dem gleichen Problem befasst, zur Zeit ist bei mir XP drauf, eine Partition verschlüsselt, die Boot Partition soll demnächst verschlüsselt werden, allerdings hab ich ja noch Ubuntu mit drauf.

Nun habe ich diesen Eintraggefunden -glaub nur lesbar, wenn man dort registriert ist, relevanter Post:

Actually, I've just managed to make a dual-boot with WinXP/Mandriva (onder VirtualBox), and it seems a bit easier than the way described on Ubuntu forum. So, if it's interesting to anyone - just follow these steps...
Prerequisites: WinXP installation CD, Mandriva 2008 Live CD.

1. On a clean HDD, create a Windows partition and install WinXP on it (e.g., first 100GB of 200GB drive).
2. Then, run Mandriva CD and use Live Install (probably, this will work with normal Mandriva DVD too). Install Mandriva, choosing "install on empty space".
3. When it asks to configure a bootloader, select GRUB (I selected GRUB with GUI) - and, THAT'S THE MAIN POINT!!! - when it shows to select GRUB location, don't select MBR, but the partition of Linux (HDA5 in my case!)
4. Restart machine, you'll see Windows loader with no mention about GRUB/Linux
5. Install TrueCrypt and select "encrypt SYSTEM partition" (not whole drive!).
Then type-in right answers to the questions:
- Single/Multi boot? - select MULTI
- Do you have non-Windows bootloader in MBR? - select NO
6. Encrypt the system partition

That's all!
When you start your PC, you'll see TrueCrypt loader menu. If you type-in a password, you'll launch encrypted Windows. If you just press Esc - unencrypted Mandriva will start.
Of course, it would be nice to change initial message to something like "Non-fatal error happened, press Esc to continue"))

And yes, who can tell me where can I get TC 5.0 (not "a"!) - I want to crypt my real drive with TwoFish, but in VirtualBox it starts after 10 min delay... I've got Core2Duo finally.... And 5.0 didn't have this issue!
