Ulrich Schnauss - Goodbye

41ty3Bz7EbL._AA240_.jpg

" Amazon.com
Goodbye is not a farewell from German electronic artist Ulrich Schnauss, but it does mark the last in a trilogy that includes Far Away Trains Passing By and A Strangely Isolated Place. Both are landmark albums of melodically ecstatic electronica, and Goodbye flows from their digital loins. Tracks like "Never Be the Same" and "In Between the Years" share the same surging rhythms, heroic electronic melodies, and jangly shoe-gazer guitars heard on the earlier discs. A slight tweak on Goodbye is the shift toward more overt vocal tracks as opposed to the textural, chanting choruses Schnauss has always employed. Rob McVey, the singer from Longview, intones the epic strains of "Shine," while "Stars" places singer Judith Beck deep in echoes, singing like a delay-drenched, surf-music dervish. In fact, "delayed," "drenched," and "dervish" pretty much sum up Goodbye. Schnauss piles on effects and layers in a psychedelic melee that would leave Ozric Tentacles and Pink Floyd standing transfixed by his stroboscopic strategies. Unlike on his previous CDs, Schnauss doesn't let you get comfortable. Reverb-smeared vocals, feedback-oscillated synthesizers, and raging guitars of destruction crush through on tracks like "Medusa." But there are also moments of sublime beauty and the kind of haunting melodies that have made Schnauss a favorite for chill-out soundtracks of the imagination. Ice crystals glisten on the branches of "Einfeld" and the deliriously euphoric "Goodbye" simply lifts you higher, in a spiritual way. It may be goodbye to this era of Ulrich Schnauss, but it promises many happy returns. --John Diliberto "

Kettel - Through Friendly Waters

"De:Bug
Kettel.

Weiter gehts:

Tim Hecker - Harmony In Ultraviolet

626992.jpg

"Harmony in Ultraviolet is Tim Hecker's sixth album. It is a continuation of Hecker's interest in spectral communications, noise, impressionist musics, thresholds of listening pleasure/pain, and the limits of digital composition. This album is a significant development of his song-craft, challenging the usefulness of descriptors such as ambient, drone, metal, noise and even electronic music. If references are necessary it could be described as a sonata for the elements, songs of crackling embers, tidal pools, spruce skylines and autumn winds. Gerhard Richter's abstract paintings are also a fair orientation. Materially speaking, it is a record of whirring drones, whispering fissures, dense disintegrating chords, late-night noise and truth-telling harmonics. Yet this record follows no overarching process, no underlying narrative. It is both a homage for the Italian partigiani and also not at all. It is songs about ghost writing and midnight whispers but then again it isn't. In many ways this album can be viewed as a work of total destruction, embracing indeterminacy as an aesthetic ideal."

Autechre - Amber

3825.jpg

"
Amber was one of the flagship albums of the ambient electronica scene in the mid 90s. Autechre subsequently veered off towards experimental pastures, eschewing the glacial, serene synthscapes featured here in tracks like Montreal and Silverside in favour of fractured beat meltdowns and frenetic pummelling. This is understandable; artists must move with the times, but I personally find Amber and its crisp successor Tri Repetae more palatable recording than later offerings such as Confield and Draft 7.30. What's more, Autechre's older stuff has aged extremely well (compared to say, Orb), so there's no dismissing this as just old hat.
The key theme in Amber is emptiness and absence - just look at the cover - and the music reflects this brilliantly.
Autechre (a synth duo, if you didn't know) are also good at create rhythm patterns that can be listened to in several different ways depending on where you, the listener, put the first beat. There is in other words a kind of musical interactibility. On Slip, for example, the notes are sequenced so that finding the first beat in each bar is impossible. But it doesn't matter. Slip is one of the most exquisite pieces of music ever to see the light of day. It evokes emotions and feelings that other music is incapable of (if you like this you should give Arovane a try).
Montreal is by Autechre's standards a very accessible slice of atmospheric techno, with a straightforward `Mission Impossible' style theme underpinned by seductive tapestry of nibbly noises and elegant pads that fade in and out. Silverside encapsulates the emptiness theme very well; the music is gentle but haunting and otherworldly, distanced and machine-made.
The Autechre aesthetic is encapsulated on the titanic Teartear, which is haunting, ominous yet at the same time extremely beautiful and highly dramatic. Which pretty much sums up this whole album, actually.
If you're new to Autechre I would recommend any of the first three albums: Incunabula, Amber and Tri Repetae. Tri Repetae is slightly crisper but Amber is the more laid back.
One thing: give it a few listens; it gets better and better. "

Fennesz - Endless Summer

Fennesz-endless_summer.jpg

"The abstract quality of this release is going to be the ultimate turn off to most listeners. Because of his reputation as a noise and experimental artist, Fennesz will not have the fan base that is attainable by most electronic acts and even most IDM acts. This is unfortunate because Fennesz has, once again, crafted an album of shimmering beauty that demands to be listened to with your full concentration. This is a demand that only important art can make. This is a demand that only the most ambitious and effective art can make. This is a demand that Fennesz creates in this work."

Hotel Costes 1-9
Bar Lounge Classics (Die "Oriental" ist sehr sehr geil)
Miss Kittin
Northern Lite
Air

kann ich rautieren

ansonsten fallen mir noch spontan:

  • Extrawelt
  • Tok Tok
  • Oliver Koletzki
  • Dj Hell
  • Dominik Eulberg
  • Delirium
ein

Zu Autechre - Gantz Graf gibts ein sehr geniales Musikvid: http://youtube.com/watch?v=atjByPSKTRA
Leider ziemlich beschissene Quali.

"more layed back" als vieles anderes was die Jungs machen.

Aber siehe oben.

Ich mach mal weiter:

Brian Eno - Ambient 1: Music For Airports

music4airports.jpg

"It’s tough to write about this album. It’s an album about listening. It’s an album about hearing. And to that end you are going to have to pick up the album that has influenced everything that has come after it.

Listen to it the night your child goes off to college, filled with that same sense and trepidation. Listen to it in the waiting room of a hospital for news of a loved one. And yes listen to it in the terminals of LAX, Heathrow, or Keflavik…….."

Console - Rocket In The Pocket

e064493re2p.jpg

"Electronica-dance with big, deep grooves, offbeat hooks, and a flare for writing wildly unconventional, challenging material, Console's Rocket in the Pocket is a journey through the mind and the unknown. It allows you to get within arm's length of the prize before it slips out of your hands and the adventure continues.

A love song from a programmer to his computer, the unconventional nature of the album comes alive on "14 Zero Zero," before sliding into the sonic grooves of the irresistibly electronic vibrations of "Gulls Galore".

The pretty "Delay Dackel" will paint vivid imagines in your head; the lush, Electro-magnetic attraction of "Crabcraft" will pull you into its gravitational pull; and the revolving dance vibes of "Bee-Queen" will freeze you in place.

As electronica becomes more and more common and more and more people jump head first into it, or implement it into their sound, it gets harder and harder (by default) to pick out the cream of the crop. Yet, when a brilliant mind comes along and hits the sub-genre or genre running with all his/her might, you know they've got something powerful. Console has something powerful indeed; I'll give it a B."

Ein weiteres Projekt von Martin Gretschmann (u.a. The Notwist und Tied And Tickled Trio)

Generell findet man dort viel gechilltes.

Enjoy. :)
Reviewing a Thomas Fehlmann record at this stage in his glorious career can seem pointless, even a bit insulting. Of course it’s great. Would one expect anything less from one of electronica’s legends? An artist of Fehlmann’s stature doesn’t just throw out junk. So intergral to the growth of electronic music since the 1980s, from his work with Palais Schaumburg to Teotonic Beats to the Orb, Fehlmann has always released music of the highest quality; it’s only a matter of how great, and on ‘Honigpumpe’, listeners have one of his very finest works. The album’s opener, “Strahlensatz,” is vintage Fehlmann, warm and inviting, blanketed with sheets of sound both hypnotic and melodic. “Soziale Warme” has more of a straighforward beat that never overwhelms, anchored with a buzzed synthesizer hook. One of the album’s highlights is the dub-inflected “Schaum,” beautifully filled out with mysterious echoes and sounds. ‘Honigpumpe’ takes listeners on a spectacular electronic landscape, from Detroit-techno soul and lush ambience, featuring a giant at the top of his game.

The Field - From Here We Go Sublime
An electronic album that is utterly original and not easily forgotten.

Pole - Steingarten
An ambient record that doesn't bore or get bogged down in its insistence on fading into the background.

Insbesondere "Düsseldorf" und "Schöner Land" gefallen mir sehr gut.

Gudrun Gut - I Put A Record On
»I Put A Record On« beginnt wie ein Paukenschlag!

Mice Parade - Mice Parade

227_461.jpg

Beatfanatic - Around The World In 80 Beats

31852.jpg
