Maggie Gyllenhaal spielt Nessa Stein, eine anglo-jüdische Geschäftsfrau. Sie leitet eine Stiftung mit dem Ziel, Frieden zwischen Israel und Palestina zu erwirken. Das passt vielen Leuten nicht und tiefster Verrat greift überall um sich. Kurzer Quote aus dem Vorspann:

We all have secrets. We all tell lies… Just to keep them from each other… and from ourselves.

But sometimes… rarely… something can happen that leaves you no choice but to reveal it. To let the world see who you really are. Your secret self. But, mostly, we tell lies. We hide our secrets from each other, from ourselves, and the easiest way to do this is not to even know that you are. So when you think about it like that, it’s a wonder we trust anyone at all.

Die Schauspielerische Leistung von Maggie Gyllenhaal ist umwerfend. Es geht für sie ganz tief nach unten und sie drückt den ganzen Schmerz deutlich aus. Nach 8 Folgen bin ich irgendwie auch froh, dass das endlich vorbei ist. Neben einfachen Intrigen sind Entührung, Spionage, Erpressung und Mord an der Tagesordnung. Eine stilles, aber sehr nachdrückliches Polit-/Spionagedrama.

Hab die Serie auf Empfehlung unseres spinnenliebenden Admins mit Monokel auch mal angefangen. Die Schauspieler sind tatsächlich ziemlich gut, das Außenrum passt auch. Trotzdem hat mich das nicht so wirklich bewegt, liegt wohl am Szenario. Habs nie zu Ende gesehen.
